Sculpture No.70_ 12’x 6′. Metal sculpture made with re-claimed material finished in translucent hand made color and automotive clear.
The artist says she woke one morning in May and looked across her sculpture field to see – dandelions, all in seed – sparkling, and swaying in the harsh morning sunlight. She wondered off momentarily- dreaming as if in an Alice and Wonderland skit. She hopped to her feet with excitement and rushed her off to work. Vara remembered three five gallon buckets of large headed bolts and a home heating oil tank that had been acquired. She worked feverishly until the object took form. From there the finish was to be very important so she created a large flake translucent flip flop paint then used automotive pearlescent clear to finish capturing the original sparkle of the morning dew.
“Gone to Seed” was featured in the show for the month of June, called “Metal Works” put on by Jessica Golden. Opening night it was sold.
