This past 30 days has been a rampage of clean up after my 6 years of travel. Whether you know it or not I am a cycleitive (yes my own word meaning travel in a path that seems consistent, circular and repetitive, in time). Meaning every seven years I go at it in what appears the same way!
It’s that time.
Every 7 years I have a ceremony of allowing new by burning the past with that goes many of my Sketchbooks, paintings, parts, material, and Journals. I release and allow them to find freedom into the ethos this way the new creative processes are regenerated. Release of old. Not only that but shelf space is regained for the next 7 years. Yes- I have a lot of stuff so it’s not like I notice the difference except I feel lighter and more open with the experience of the event.
I recently told an artist friend this is what I was gearing up to and his Director suggested I film the burn as I should have all the years past as documentation. I have been debating this idea for over 2 weeks and it feels a bit rhetorical – but time will tell!
With the tossing and shoveling of stuff comes the cleaning of space with which I have waded through what was once my studio gallery to reopen that. Funny how excited one could get to have a floor polished! -again its been a long time since I’ve even seen the floor in the Ballard Road Gallery!
I hope you’ll join us when we have our opening!
