“Ode to O”
This piece was made in memory of a man who really shared a part of my heart.
He appeared appalling at first sight,
He played the stupid card, but that was not at all right
A happy sort with a big heart, enlightened man of god
Living in the moment, with no thought to steel or lie
Loved a word game, a glass of tea and a good magazine
Ride, fish and play the day away
He saw the world clear as could be
Conversations bountiful with dimension
Yet most would say stay away
He used to say “She’s all business” about me over tea
I miss my friend Owen Ball a unique man among us all.
Funny thing is when we went to install the sculpture it bounced out of Chad’s hand and landed so that it could look inside the sorority dorm door. A student came out to me, while we were installing to say she didn’t think we should leave sculpture there – I thought how perfect -He’s at it even in spirit, and left it!
See you at the opening!
