The Athens Cultural Center is serving Culture up with major questions through their new art display that packs a wallop!
This month’s artist, Michelle Vara is concerned specifically, with the changes and the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the younger members of our community, the ‘Tweens’ and ‘Teens’ otherwise known as 9 to 18-year-olds.
Vara’s art series started in experiential drawings and grew to uses many unique materials as metaphors. The open-air street-side window art show, houses paintings made from tar, and sculpture made with reclaimed materials. This artwork examines some growing problems of angst and immediacy along with the dramatic changes in our sociology caused by computer technology and social distancing.
Vara begs the question-
“Who’s watching? – as Bucks begin to Sprout Their Horns?”
